Latest Updates:
As of June 26, 2025

Online registration for NARAM is now closed. Participants can still register at the field beginning Monday, June 23, 2025.

Thursday Swap Shop At NARAM

We had an extra day for evening activities and this Swap Shop was suggested. I just confirmed with the Convention Center that there will be no extra charge for changing/set-up the meeting room, so there will be no charge for those participating as well.

Think of this as a social mixer, tables will be set up around the outside of the room where you can display/buy/sell trade/talk... rocketry....

NO FOOD or DRINKS allowed - this goes for all week in the convention center meeting room, there will be water available.

We would like a count however on how many of you might want to use a table (no big multi-tables set-ups), we will accommodate as many as possible - probably a limit of 12 to 15 tables, however.

Just let Rod or I know early in the week.

Register today, online registration closes June 15, 2025.

NARAM-66 registration is open!

We will have sport flying available at its own range (separate from the contest range) for all 7 days of our on-field schedule. This has been made possible with the help of several sport flyers who have volunteered for sport range duties. But they can use your help - if you plan to sport fly at N66 please sign up for sport range duties; you can always contact Rod or Steve to help fill in our needs.  No sparky motors, and no motors greater than G impulse, are permitted to be flown. Permitted motors must be NAR-certified with an average thrust not greater than 80 Newtons, and maximum total impulse not greater than 160 Ns.

The NAR, in collaboration with the Pittsburgh Space Command, NAR Section #473, invites you to Muncie, Indiana for NARAM-66, June 22-29, 2025. All NARAM-66 flying events will be held at Site #4 of the AMA’s world class flying facility.

NARAM-66 will share the first part of the week with the FAI CanAm Cup event. FAI flying begins Monday June 23 and wraps up Wednesday June 25. NARAM-66 officially begins Tuesday evening, the 24th, with Classic Model turn in, culminating in the awards banquet Saturday evening, the 28th. Sport flying will operate throughout the period, June 23-29, and will support rockets with motors from 1/8A to G class impulse.

Mark your calendar now to attend the NAR’s Annual Meet. Take the opportunity to connect with old friends and meet new ones.  We look forward to seeing you in Muncie!

Flyer and Spectator Information

Situational Awareness.  Objects often fall from the sky, sometimes at a very high speed. We have rules and procedures to make this activity as safe for everyone as possible, but things can happen if the rules are not followed. Everyone attending must understand and follow these rules to ensure safety.

  • Pay attention. Every flight is potentially dangerous to you and your family. If the Launch Control Officer (LCO) yells “Heads up!” he means it.
  • If you hear “Heads Up” and/or an air hornblasting, it means that a rocket, or parts of it, is falling into the spectator/parking area. GET UP, SCAN THE SKY, and make sure that you or the people near you are not under the falling object!
  • Parents please keep your children under control and are sure they understand these rules.
  • Pets; can we bring our dog? Rockets are often very loud; many dogs are very frightened of these loud, fast-moving objects. If Fido is accustomed to rockets then you may bring him LEASHED, and be prepared to clean up after him.
  • Use of Radio Control—R/C rocket-boosted glider flights originating from the either the main range or S8 flying area should leave the area directly over the range or spectator areas following the boost phase of flight so that other models may be launched. R/C model flights that are not part of NARAM competition or sport rocket activities shall not be made near the ranges or spectators. All R/C flyers shall be familiar with and in compliance of all FAA UAV regulations including TRUST certificate and registration markings if required on aircraft.
  • Please stay behind the flagged flight line barrier, and do not set up your chairs, etc. at the barrier.
  • If the LCO announces a flight as a “Heads Up” flight, that means get on your feet and pay attention until the rocket’s recovery device deploys, or until the rocket is on the ground.
  • Do not attempt to catch any rocket as it lands.
  • Do not pick up or move any rocket that is not yours, unless you have the owner’s permission.
  • Park your vehicle in the designated parking area.
  • Please keep control of your trash and help us to keep the property clean.

NARAM is a Carry In, Carry Out Event.
