NARTREK Cadet Level 3

Welcome to Level 3 of NARTREK Cadet. Level 3 is a continuation of the rocketry skills you learned in Levels 1 and 2. Upon completion of NARTREK Level 3 you will receive a certificate. NARTREK Level 3 patches can be purchased upon packet submission and NARTREK Headquarters approval from the NAR store. Please review the following instructions and information to complete the packet.

  • There are plans on the NAR Education website to assist with building cluster models.
  • All rockets must be prepared for launch by the Cadet.
  • Flights must be launched and recovered successfully, failed launches must be repeated.
  • All flights must be witnessed by an adult.
  • A photo of the (single) rocket before or after flight must be included in the submitted packet. 
  • All flights must occur after the submission and approval of NARTREK Level 2.

 

NARTREK Cadet Level 3 Requirements:

Part 1

Complete any (two) Education options:

  • Option #1: Prepare a science fair project using model rockets to gather data.
  • Option #2: Assist with running a club launch range.
  • Option #3: Organize (or assist) in starting a club or serve in some capacity in an existing club.
  • Option #4: Organize (or assist) a demonstration launch or have a story published on a website or newsletter about a launch.
  • Option #5: Give a talk on rocketry to a school, civic club or youth group
  • Option #6: Write a 200-word report on any rocketry subject that interests you and submit to NARTREK base.
  • Option #7: Prepare a simple database of your previous rocket flights, (Level 1 or 2) and document your experiences; submit the report to NARTREK base.


Part 2

Complete any (two) options:

  • Option #1: Build a skill level 2 model with individual fins. Finish” the model by painting and/or adding decals. Fly and recover successfully without damage to the model.
  • Option #2: Build and fly a multi-stage model successfully.
  • Option #3: Build and fly a clustered model successfully. Rocket must be flown with at least 3 motors. 
  • Option #4: Assemble and fly a "D" engine model successfully.
