NARTREK Cadet Level 4

Welcome to LEVEL 4 of NARTREK Cadet. LEVEL 4 is a continuation of the rocketry skills you learned in Levels 1, 2 and 3. Level 4 requires work with advanced tasks. Upon completion of NARTREK LEVEL 4 you will receive a certificate. NARTREK LEVEL 1 patches can be purchased upon submission of application. Please review the following instructions and information to complete the packet.

  • All rockets must be prepared for launch by the Cadet.
  • Flights must be launched and recovered successfully, failed launches must be repeated.
  • All flights must be witnessed by an adult.
  • A photo of the (single) rocket before or after flight must be included in the submitted packet. 
  • All flights must occur after the submission and approval of NARTREK Level 3.

 

NARTREK Cadet Level 4 Requirements:

Complete two out of four:

  • Option #1: Assemble any skill level scale model. Write a 500-word essay about the full-size rocket. Have an adult judge the model for quality and accuracy using the Sport Scale Judging FormFly the model successfully.
  • Option #2: Design and build a model rocket using materials specifically designed for use in model rocketry. Properly test the design using simulator software or  by Swing Test on a string to prove stability. Write a 500-word description of the design and stability testing. Fly the rocket successfully two times, using motors  of “D” or less.
  • Option #3: Build a mid-power rocket and fly successfully on an E or F motor. (This is option is available for cadets 14 and older)
  • Option #4: Build a competition model for any National Association of Rocketry (NAR) event, then enter the event and fly your model rocket.
